One of the best things to do if you can’t get the original documents is to take pictures or write down the information on them to be able to access them easily later. Depending on how good your manipulator’s memory is and how suspicious they are in general will impact how easy it is to request the documents for simple things and not give them back or other possible strategies. Keep yourself safe.
Some of the content warned about in here will probably only be done by the most extreme abusers. However, the documents can be used to hold over your head if you don’t know how to get new ones or safeguard yourself.
Personal Documents
Social Security Number
SSN’s are primarily stolen to misuse in relations to taxes and credit as well as banking. So the first thing to do is check your bank accounts and credit if you have any to find suspicious activity and report it. Even if there hasn't been any fraud but someone has a hold of your card or number it's a good idea to flag it anyway, so it can't be used against you.
most activities require multiple forms of ID so it’s not going to ruin your life. You have a couple options. You can freeze your account and do a recovery process or you can apply for a new number. Both are valid options
Birth Certificate
Having your birth certificate is important to be able to apply for passports or government benefits, enroll in school, join the military, claim pension or insurance benefits, and get a driver’s license.

If there is someone in possession of your birth certificate they can’t do much with it. Most actions require multiple forms of identifications to do anything with your identity. If they do have more than one you can freeze those assets quickly.
Passport
not much can be done with the number itself, however if someone has the document and another form of identification for you (SSN or Birth certificate) it can go south quickly. By reporting your passport lost or stolen, it will nullify its usage. This will not replace it but it prevents identity theft.

Driver’s License
Identity theft is pretty easy with a drivers license so the best thing to do is report it stolen to the police and flag potential fraud before it happens. It depends on how wild someone who was holding it over you is, and how much info they have. The next step is to contact your state’s Department of Motor Vehicles and they’ll walk you through replacing your license.

Medical Documents
HIPAA
HIPAA is a form that you fill out at the doctor's office every year that says who can have access to your medical records. Each year it is wiped and you must fill it out again. If you want to take someone off before you reach the new year, you can contact your doctor. Typically they’ll ask you about it the next time you visit in the new year.
Medical Power of Attorney
Medical power of attorney is someone who makes decisions for you medically if you are unable to make them for yourself. Medical power of attorney cannot edit a living will. They cannot change your OOH-DNR (do not resuscitate) or override it, but if you do not have a OOH-DNR they can make the decision on your behalf. You can designate who you want to be in charge of this.
Will
Creating a will may seem morbid but it allows for you to allocate things you don’t want your abusers to have access to in the long run. As you get older and gain more expensive assets this can be incredibly helpful to prevent them from swooping in and stealing from your loved ones. It is recommended to update regularly but depending on your assets and time constraints it’s up to you.

Living Will
A living will is a written statement detailing a person's desires regarding their medical treatment in circumstances in which they are no longer able to express informed consent, especially an advance directive. For a living will template click here
Notarization
Notarization is having someone qualified watch you sign your document, sign it themselves, and make the document valid and effective. Otherwise the document “doesn’t count.” It may cost a couple dollars but not much.
You can get your documents notarized including but not limited to banks, libraries, court houses, post offices, and lawyers offices.
