The Matilda Project
A Resource Library
Welcome
This website is built on the idea that sometimes caretakers suck. Whether it’s power dynamics, abuse, manipulation, neglect, or lack of boundaries, it may seem like you’ll never get out from under their boot, even after you turn eighteen. We won’t stand for that. You deserve freedom. There’s a lot of information here, and not all of it will apply to your situation. Don’t feel pressure to read everything and take breaks if you are feeling overwhelmed. We’re not professionals but we are happy to be a library of information so you don’t have to figure it out on your own. This is primarily focused on young adults around ages 16-24 but anyone is welcome and we hope it helps you find your way to freedom.
This whole thing is kind of terrifying. So build yourself an emotional support pillow fort, grab a good friend, and dive in. We’ll get through this together with a lot of research, caffeine, and spite.
